CNYIN Jump$tart 1st Quarter Webinar

Join the California & Nevada Youth Involvement Network (CNYIN) for a special webinar on March 27, to discover more about California Jump$tart Coalition. The not-for-profit organization's mission is to improve the personal financial literacy of California’s youth and improve the quality of life in California by teaching young people how to succeed with money, including organization, earning, spending, saving, investing and credit.

Webinar attendees will learn:

  1. Making the case for personal finance education; an important component of civic literacy
  2. The role of the California Jump$tart Coalition as part of a nationwide effort to promote financial literacy
  3. Some of the challenges and solutions to improving personal finance education in California
  4. How your credit union can partner with the California Jump$tart Coalition

By helping the personal finance education community become more connected, effective, and powerful, together we can support the implementation of personal finance education at every level from K-12th grades.

SPEAKERS —
Rebecca Ivanovich Gallagher is an educator facilitating positive student outcomes as a specialist in workforce development for the Sonoma County Office of Education. She brings experience as an award winning teacher with knowledge from a first career in small business, to connect youth to educational and workplace preparation; a specific focus has been to improve opportunities for at-risk teens.

Rebecca has been at the forefront of expanding law related and personal finance education. She is an educational liaison to the legal community in Sonoma County, a principal in the establishment of annual law-related educational opportunities. As part of her commitment to the importance of financial literacy, she serves on the board of directors for the California Jump$tart Coalition, an organization dedicated to the importance of personal finance knowledge as an essential life skill.

A graduate of Sonoma State University, Rebecca continues to develop her educational leadership skills in order to play an expanded role in the challenge of creating innovative, 21st century educational programs.

Tena Lozano is responsible for overseeing the activities of the California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues’ credit union development department, which includes community outreach, international relations, financial education, and the Shapiro Group.

In her role as executive director of the RMJ Foundation, she is responsible for administering and coordinating activities to support the goals and objectives of the Richard Myles Johnson (RMJ) Foundation, which supports youth financial education and continuing education for credit union leaders. The Foundation serves credit unions in California and Nevada.

She has more than 20 years’ experience in the credit union movement, including work in public relations at WesCorp and the League. She received a bachelor’s degree in communication arts from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.
