Presented by Mary-Lou Heighes, President, Compliance Plus, Inc.
This program is intended especially for California credit unions.
Each year, your California credit union must report certain inactive accounts to the state, and then remit the unclaimed funds to the State of California the following summer.

Do you know the rules?

Join credit union compliance expert Mary-Lou Heighes for this basic look at the regulations, procedures, and forms that govern dormant accounts and the state of California’s right to escheat, or take, those unclaimed accounts.

Get answers to these questions:

  • How long must you hold an inactive account before escheating it to the state?
  • What steps must you take to locate a member before you escheat his funds to the state?
  • What is the absolute deadline to send a notice of escheat?
  • What is the maximum locator fee you may charge the member?
  • What happens if a member wants to claim his account after his funds have been escheated?

Who Should Attend?
