Our credit union motto "People Helping People" is especially significant when vulnerable members are targeted by financial predators. Your intervention may be your members’ only line of defense.

To help stop this shameful crime, Nevada legislation requiring financial institutions to train certain employees to recognize and report suspected financial exploitation of “older” and “vulnerable” persons. Learn what to look for, what steps you can take, and what steps you must take when you suspect an older or vulnerable member is being victimized.

To satisfy the requirements of this mandated training you’ll learn:

  • Who is an older person or a vulnerable adult?
  • What is financial exploitation?
  • Who are the abusers, and how do “they” do It?
  • How do you identify and report potential elder abuse?
  • How are the reports investigated?

Who Should Attend?

Each financial institution shall provide training to each officer and employee who:

  • Has direct contact with older or vulnerable members
  • Reviews or approves member financial transactions

Meet the presenter

Mary-Lou Heighes is President and founder of Compliance Plus, Inc., which has been helping financial institutions with the development of compliance programs since 2000. She provides compliance training all over the country for various trade associations and financial institutions, and also speaks at numerous financial institution conferences throughout the country. Mary-Lou has been an instructor at regulatory compliance schools and conducts dozens of webinars for organizations throughout the country.
