Meet the presenters:
Jeremy Empol is the Vice President of Federal Government Affairs for the California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues. He began at the Leagues in January of 2007 in the position of Director of Grassroots Advocacy, and has been in his current position since June of 2011. Jeremy’s responsibilities at the League include lobbying Members of Congress, working within the California and Nevada Congressional delegations to promote credit union issues and ensuring League members are connecting with their Congressional delegation, as well as those who serve in the federal government.
Prior to coming to the League, Jeremy served on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant for California Congressman Bob Filner (CA-51); and Legislative Correspondent for Texas Congressman Max Sandlin (TX-1). Jeremy also has served on the election campaigns for California Senator Barbara Boxer (’98), former Vice President Al Gore, and Congressman Brad Sherman. He holds a Masters of Arts in Government from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis.
Sharon Lindeman, vice president of regulatory advocacy, joined the California & Nevada Credit Union Leagues in mid-March 2013 after 21 years of service at SchoolsFirst FCU where she held various compliance and audit positions at the credit union from 1991-2013. In her most recent position at SchoolsFirst FCU—manager of operations compliance—Lindeman was active in the regulatory rule-making process, drafting comment letters on proposed rules by the National Credit Union Administration, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and other agencies. Prior to joining SchoolsFirst FCU and the credit union movement, Lindeman spent her career in various operations and compliance positions at several banks.
